What are color fonts?

Color fonts, or colorful fonts as its name suggests – are regular font files with added colors, textures, and other graphic elements.

Color fonts can be serif, sans serif, or handwritten. Their level of color and detail can also greatly vary! Color fonts can come in different font formats: SBIX, COLR, CBDT and SVG, with OpenType-SVG as the most common, as it is compatible with most editing softwares and operating systems.

How to use color fonts in your projects

You can use the best color fonts in any of your projects that would benefit from an instant pop of color! They’re pretty much the same as display fonts, with the added boost in color and detail.

If you need to resize your color fonts for large-scale use, make sure you’re using the SVG file so you won’t have to worry about your lettering looking pixelated.

If your color fonts come in color bitmap format (PNG, OTF, or TTF), your font can only scale up to a limited size. Check their original resolution first before resizing them so they won’t look pixelated.
