Introduction & Materials
3m

Find out what we will be making, how much material you will need, and how we will be making the macrame storage basket. Use this video to pre-cut your cords ready for the steps and stages of this class.

Panel 1 - How to Make a Larks Head Knot
1m

Each panel of your storage basket begins with a larks head knot that will form the first part of the border along the top of your basket. This lesson shows you how to make this larks head knot that you will repeat with all the cords you are using for the body of your storage basket.

Panel 1 - Combine Larks Head Knots Together
2m

The basket is made up of 4 panels, this lesson shows you how to make one panel by combining together your larks head knot combined cords. Panel 1 is made up of 5 larks head knots combined cords being joined together with 4 square knots.

Panel 1 - Alternating Squares and Row 2
3m

This lesson explains how the alternating squares method works and demonstrates this on row 2 of your first panel.

Panel 1 - Row 3 - 8
1m

This lesson explains how to create row 3, still using the alternating squares method. Your entire panel is made up of a total of 8 rows of square knots that alternate between 4 squares and 5 squares in every other row.

Panel 1 - Complete the Panel in a V-shape
2m

This lesson shows you how to complete your first panel by creating the closing V shape needed to create the base once you join your panels together. Once you have completed this lesson, panel 1 will be complete. Then you will be able to repeat this another 3 times to make the remaining 3 panels of your storage cube.

Making Two Handles for the Basket
2m

This lesson teaches you how to make the handles for this storage basket. The handle will also be used to combine together the panels with the remaining cord which is explained in more detail in the next lesson.

Connect the First Two Panels Together with the First Handle
2m

This lesson explains how to combine together two panels using the cords from the first handle. This is done using square knots which will blend in with the other square knots in the body of the basket.

Connect the Remaining Panels Together with the Second Handle
1m

The remaining panels are combined together using the handle cords. This lesson will show you how to combine all 4 panels together using the same method as we have learned in the previous lesson.

Close off the Base
2m

The base of the storage basket is formed by connecting the bottom "V" shaped panels together. This is performed with the basket reversed inside out so that the loose ends are not visible on the outside of the basket. When these combine together, it will create a flat rigid base. This lesson shows you how to square knot the sides together and then close the middle with a crown knot. Loose ends will be trimmed.

Final Summary
1m

The storage basket is now complete and ready for use. Find out about how to share your feedback, creations, and questions with me on Creative Fabrica or to become a CF Fan for exclusive Fan benefits.
