Here’s the preview of this class, where Lucy will introduce herself and she’ll let you know about all the techniques and tools that you’ll need throughout the process.
In this part, Lucy will give you an overview of this project, along with the tools, materials, and skills we'll be using.
IncludedThere are 5 designs included with this project that you'll stitch on your embroidery machine. Lucy will talk about what order to stitch them, and how to place the fabrics and stabilisers to ensure success. She will also show you a sped-up version of each design stitchout. This class also includes cutting and turning the ears so they can be stitched into the head by your machine.
Here is where Lucy will cut away the excess fabric from the seams, then turn the doll parts right-side-out. Special attention will be given to the more difficult tasks like turning the fingers or working with thick fleece fabric.
In this video, Lucy will help you creating your own custom armature which will go inside the doll to give it structure. This will make the doll poseable and able to stand on it's own. She'll also wire the hands and attach them to the arms - they're poseable too! (SAFETY NOTE - wire armatures should NOT be used inside dolls for small children).
In this part, Lucy will help you filling out the doll head and body with stuffing. Then you'll see the hand-stitched closure option on the body, while the head will be glued closed.
In this final step you’ll be shown how to fix a faux button placket which will disguise the doll opening. Fur yarn will be used to trim the doll so it looks like it's wearing a fur-trimmed coat. Then, Lucy will add some hair and the hat to complete the character.
