Make Faux Water Effects Using Hot Glue
What you'll learn
In this class, Liyana will teach you a personal hack and trick of hers. How to make artificial water using a hot glue gun and pieces of plastic! You will learn how to make a water fountain, but you can learn and apply these techniques to make waterfalls, small rivers, and creeks for example. This is a unique skill, and once you've mastered it, you can use it to apply to many projects like fairy gardens, miniature scenery, and dioramas. You don't need many supplies at all, and most likely, you have what you need already at home! Come join the class and get ready to make something truly magical!

Get an overview of what you will be creating in this class.
Liyana will introduce you to the class and then begin by showing you how to create the form for your artificial water. You'll be shown what material to use, how to add color to your plastic, and how to cut and stick it to your surface. You'll then go on to learn how to start making your plastic strips actually look like water using hot glue.
Learn how to use white acrylic paint to bring your faux water to life. The paint adds dimension and makes the water look as though it is flowing. The white paint acts as foam.
You will see how to use toy stuffing or cushion stuffing to add to your water effects. Liyana will teach you what glue you need, how to stick the stuffing onto your water structure, how to use the hot glue to 'melt' it, and finally; how to use white paint to finish the look off.
In a very quick and easy step, you will see how to use food coloring to create blue water. The water will be placed at the bottom of your fountain.
As you're creating a water fountain, another structure is needed. Liyana will repeat the steps using plastic sheets, blue marker, and hot glue, to create faux running water. She will then guide you through making a structure to hold the foundation, simply using a bowl and candle holder.
In this part, Liyana will show you how to shape your plastic to make it look realistic - a replica of how a water fountain would flow. She will then go through the same steps to create the water effects and finish off by adding white paint to the pieces. You'll then add more colored water to your base and stick the whole thing together to create the completed look.
Finally, you will see the completed structure; a beautiful artificial fountain that you can create simply using a plastic, marker, and hot glue! Will you gift this to someone? Use it as decor for your home? Or will you use this hack to create unique crafts to sell? The possibilities are endless!
