Making Hanging Easter Teacups

Liyana will begin by introducing the class, and mentioning what you will be making as well as the materials needed for this project. She will list alternatives and if you can make something yourself rather than purchasing it.

Liyana will show you what kind of material you can use to line the inside of the cup. She will show you how much you'll need, what glue to use and how to stick it inside your cup, and how to dye your material using coffee or tea to create a beautiful vintage look.

Here Liyana will teach you how to make a miniature nest using raffia as well as some moss she had collected for free on some of her hikes. You will see how to place the nest in your cup, position it well, and how to stick it down. She will also begin decorating the side of the cup using greenery she had saved from a bouquet.

Liyana will show you examples of nests with eggs you can purchase ready-made, or how to make your own. If you make your own, you can follow along. You'll learn how much clay you need, how to roll it out and create an egg shape, how to smoothen out any cracks in your clay, and how to add specks/detail on your eggs using a toothpick and paint. Liyana will also show you how to secure your eggs into the nest.

Now you will start to decorate the inside of the cup using miniature carrots that you can purchase. Liyana will show you how to place these inside, how to arrange them and what glue to use to ensure they're nice and secure. She will go on to work on the sides of the cup again, adding a wooden rabbit embellishment and a card butterfly topper.

Liyana will walk you through what kind of flowers you can use; from artificial flower heads to real dried flowers. Liyana will explain how you can press and dry flowers yourself or purchase them ready to use. She shows you what colours and styles fit best for this project. She uses hot glue to stick the florals in place and then moves on to showing you how to hang your cup using ribbon. You'll learn how to tie your ribbon and arrange it so that it can hold and hang your cup perfectly.

Now it's time to add the final touch with an Easter banner. You will learn all the different kinds of ways you can create the wording- from stamps to wooden letters and more. You'll also see how to secure your banner inside your cup, how to embellish the banner, and how to create the banner form itself.
