Creating Templates

In this chapter, Rebecca shows you how to transform a printed image into templates. She will give you loads of tips and tricks to ensure you can accurately recreate the original design in your finished project.

Creating the Background

In this chapter, Rebecca explains how to use your template to cut perfect shapes, and place them accurately on your backing fabric. She also demonstrates applique stitch so that you can get a professional finish in your textile art.

Adding the Sun and Sea

Next, Rebecca will show you how to add the sun and the first sea shape. This chapter contains lots of tips for cutting complicated shapes and how to perfectly position your applique pieces.

Adding the Mid-Blue Details

In this lesson, Rebecca will show you how to use the reduction method to make sure your applique hoop is an exact match of the original design.

Adding The Final Pieces

In this lesson, Rebecca will demonstrate how to ensure your pieces fit together, leaving no accidental gaps. We will add the final pieces to finish our applique design.

Mounting Your Hoop

In this lesson, Rebecca shows you how to mount and finish your hoop in a neat and practical way. If you want to add stitched embellishments, watch Chapter 9 first as it is easier to do this before mounting your hoop.

Optional Embellishments

In the final lesson, Rebecca suggests ways to embellish your design with embroidery. This is an optional extra and if you want to do this, it is better to add stitching BEFORE mounting your art in the hoop.
