Personalized Christmas Ornaments
Supplies needed:
- Christmas Ornaments
- Vinyl (I used a glossy vinyl from Metamark 7)
- Transfer paper
- Digital files: Font (Starfish was used in this example) & snowflakes or other christmassy designs to decorate your ornaments
- Bows for decoration (optional)
- Die-cutting machine (I used a Silhouette Cameo)
Some of the ornaments were already shiny when I bought them. You can use any type of Christmas Ornament for this tutorial, just make sure that it has a surface to place the decal on.
Start out by selecting which fonts you want to use, and cut out the designs with your cutting machine. The vinyl I used was the glossy Metamark 7.
The ornament in this example was quite small (6cm across) so I made the names 2 inches (about 5 cm) across to fit it nicely on the ornament.
Place the transfer paper over the vinyl with your decal and burnish it thorougly. You can use your fingers or a scraper tool for this. This will transfer the design from the vinyl to the transfer paper.
Then carefully apply the transfer paper to the ornament by pressing it down and smooth it out starting from the middle outwards. For this you can also use a scraper tool or your fingers. Make sure that the name is applied smoothly on the ornament. Burnish it well so it is secured firmly, then peel it off slowly.
Create some snowflakes for decoration, and add them to the ornament around the decal in the same way I described above.
Add a pretty bow, or leave as-it. I created these bows myself.
Smile and be proud of what you just created, happy crafting!
