Mikado is a funny traditional game. It is easy to play and to store, and you can make your own! This game is about picking long sticks from a table. All the sticks are mixed, and you can not move any other while picking yours.

If you want to learn how to create a homemade mikado set, keep reading! We are going to explain to you how to do it step-by-step.

Supplies Needed

Step-by-step

Rub the sharp end of the wooden sticks with the nail file. This step is essential; we do not want anybody to get hurt.

For the sake of the tutorial, we have taken the pictures when the washi tape is still a bit loose. To be able to play with your sticks, you have to press it till it is tight.

Take one stick. Paste four pieces of washi tape of the same color around it.

Your Mikado set is ready to play! Grab all the sticks together and release them on a table. The goal of every player is to take as much as they can every round. If, when touching a stick, you move another, it’s the end of your turn.

On the pictures above,  you can see the values of the different sticks. The player that has more points at the end of the game will be the winner!
