Craftopia Tutorial: How to create a DIY Paper Ice Cream
Follow the steps and repeat this cute craft.
In the third chapter of HBO’s Craftopia, the contestants had to customize their new backpacks. To complete this task, they had to create unique decorations. Our favorite project was the ice cream produced by Brooklyn. The contestant made this craft thinking about her little sister, Holland. In one of the zip lockers, she included a small ice cream cone. It could not be cooler!
If you’d like to create this craft at home, keep reading! We have thought of an alternative method that we are going to share with you. You won’t need professional supplies, and there is no glue gun involved. Follow the steps and create the cutest kawaii ice creams!
You won’t need expensive materials to complete this craft.
- Din A4 Cardboard sheet
- Paper napkin – We picked this cute model with a pattern
- Small crafting ball
- Glue stick
- Washi Tape
Fold the cardboard sheet, as seen in the image below. Take one of the corners to the side of the paper.
Use the ruler to make sure that you are creating a straight line. You can trace a route with a pencil if you want.
Cut off the space that is not covered by the corner. You should get two pieces: a big triangle and a smaller rectangle.
We are going to work with the rectangular piece. You can keep the triangle for other projects.
Use the ruler to find the middle point of your rectangle.
Fold the center of the rectangle. Wrap the whole piece around that point. The outcome should have a cone shape.
Release your cone and apply some glue on the inner side.
Close the cone and press hard on the inside. Keep pushing for some minutes, until both parts stick together.
After the glue dries, your cone is ready. It’s time to work on the Ice Cream scoop.
Open a napkin. Place the inner side on top.
Put the crafting ball in the middle of the napkin, as you can see in the image below.
Wrap the napkin around the ball. Make sure you cover it completely.
Add two pieces of washi tape to create a “neck” between the ball and the extra paper.
Fold up the outside part of the napkin. Look at the image below for further reference.
Add glue to the inner piece of paper and place it inside the cone.
Press for some minute. Both parts should stick together.
Once the scoop and the cone are together, bring the top layer of paper down.
That is it! Your kawaii ice cream cone is ready!
