Step into a crafter’s dream kitchen
Elaina always wanted a kitchen that made her happy — so she decided to create it herself!
She always loved everything shabby chic and pastel, but looking at the items in the store they all had a hefty price tag. With a paint brush and mod podge, she could create the kitchen of her dreams in just 4 months.
Elaina, please walk us through the story behind your beautiful kitchen!
I love all things that are pastel and pretty. My old kitchen was not very me. It was plain, had no colors – I used to hate it.
Elaina’s kitchen today.
Elaina’s kitchen before she transformed it.
I decided that I wanted to change it after I visited different shabby chic shops and saw all the beautiful things in there that I love. But since all the things in the store had a price, I simply decided to create my own kitchen design. The inspiration was shabby chic mixed with pastel colors.
How long did it take for you to create this beautiful kitchen?
It took me 8 months to create it and I have now had it for 4 years. It was a project that I was working on while my son was at school. I did everything on my own, with just my imagination, paint brush, mod podge and loads of love.
Where do you get the inspiration from?
I always like shabby chic things, pretty pink blue things. I truly enjoy painting and transform things.
How do people usually react when they are invited to your home?
Some of my friends think I’m mad (laugh), but lots of people love it!
What are your tips for someone who wants to transform a room in their house into a craft dream?
Well, a tip is to do what you like don’t worry what others will think about it. Put love in everything you do, and I’ll promise that it will look fantastic.
Which types of crafting are your favorites?
I make any kind of crafts ! I enjoy scrapbook booking, and use all types of materials for my crafting projects; popsicle sticks sticks, tin of beans, milk boxes — anything really that I have at home! I love this wish well I made with popsicle sticks.
What is your next crafting project?
I’m not doing too much this month, as I’m going to go on holiday. But I have many pieces of furniture that I need to transform, so this will be my next project.
Thank you Elaina for showing us your dream kitchen and inspiring us that anything is possible with a paint brush.
