How to create a text box in Canvas Workspace

To open a text box, you have to select the Text tool. You can find it in the left toolbar; it’s the T icon. It’s highlighted in blue on the image above. Click on the T icon to activate the  Text tool. 

Once you have clicked on the Text tool, place the cursor on the point of the canvas where you want to create a text box and click. A small box will appear: here’s where you have to type your text.

The aspect of your text on the writing box is not the final aspect it will have. By default, once you’ve written your text, it will have a thin, black outline. The inner space will be transparent until you change the color. If you’d like to edit these features, keep reading.

How to change the color of a text in Canvas Workspace

There are two ways to change the color of your text: from the upper toolbar and the Properties panel. In both cases, the process is simple:

• Select the text you want to edit.
• Click on Fill. To find this option, search for the paint jar icon. The square beside it will have the corresponding color.
• A window with a chromatic circle will pop up. Select the color you want to apply and close this window once you are done editing.

How to edit the outline of a text in Canvas Workspace

Just as it happens with the fill of your characters, there are two ways to edit the outline: from the upper toolbar and the Properties panel.

To change the color of the shape:

• Select the text you want to edit.
• Click on Line. To find this option, search for the marker icon. The square beside it will have the corresponding color.
• A window with a chromatic circle will pop up. You can visualize the color palette in different formats. To change these visuals, press the various tabs on the higher part of the window.
• Select the color you want to apply and close this window once you are done editing.

You can edit the width of the outline by changing the value of the Width parameter. These are the steps:

• Select the text you want to edit.
• Modify the value of the Width parameter. You can do this by writing a new value on the box or by pressing the arrows that appear beside it.

You can also change the pattern of the outlines of your letters. To do it, click on the rectangle that you’ll find beside the Width parameter. A dropdown menu will appear. You can try all the paths and see which one looks better on your design.

How to change the font of a text in Canvas Workspace

As it happens with the rest of the parameters that are related to text format, there are two ways to change the font. There is a rectangle that displays a dropdown menu in both the top list and the properties panel.

How to change the character spacing in Canvas Workspace

Once again, you can edit this parameter at the upper menu and the properties panel.

• Select the words that you want to edit.
• Change the value in the “Character spacing” by writing.
• Use the ascendent and descendent arrows beside the rectangle to modify the value inside it.
