How to divide shapes in Brother Canvas Workspace
Let’s get started! For the sake of this tutorial, we’ve traced two pre-made figures in our canvas. We’ve picked a shape from the Shapes panel on the left side of the canvas.
By default, Canvas Workspace displays the properties panel at the right side of the screen. To slice your figures, you need to display the Edit panel. You can do this by clicking the second icon on the top-right menu. Hit the icon that we’ve highlighted in blue on the image below.
Select the two shapes that you want to divide. To do this, hit them with the mouse while pressing Shift in your keyboard.
At the bottom of the Edit panel, you’ll find a section called Process Overlap. The second icon from the left represents the Divide tool. Hit this icon to divide your shapes.
Once you’ve clicked the icon, Canvas Workspace will display the different parts altogether. You’ll have to separate them manually to appreciate the difference.
As you can see, now we have three different shapes. They’re all independent so that you can edit them separately.
How to remove the overlap in Brother Canvas Workspace
To remove the overlap area between two shapes, you’ll need to display the Edit panel. To do this, hit the second icon at the top-right menu. It’s highlighted in blue in the image below.
Select the overlapping figures to do this. Click them with the mouse while pressing Shift on your keyboard.
At the bottom of the Edit panel, you’ll find a section that is called Process Overlap. The third icon from this section is called Remove Overlap. You can find this icon highlighted in blue on the image below.
Hit this icon to remove the overlap area between both figures.
When you separate both figures, you’ll see that the overlap from the figure that’s behind has disappeared.
It’s essential to notice that the overlap will disappear from the image that’s in the back. Make sure to place in the front the shape that you want to keep complete.
How to subtract shapes in Brother Canvas Workspace
Select the figures you’re working with. To select both, hit them with the mouse while pressing Shift on your keyboard.
To subtract one shape from another in Brother Canvas Workspace, you’ll have to display the Edit panel. You can do this by hitting the second icon from he top-right menu. We’ve highlighted this icon in blue on the image below.
