The most common font formats of fonts purchased or downloaded online are OTF and TTF. Everything you’ll need to know about the different font formats can be found in our tutorial here.
To use a font on a webpage you’ll need to have a font format that can be implemented on a site. But how can you convert an OTF/TTF font to a webfont? With Creative Fabrica’s free Webfont Generator, this can be done in an instant!
The Webfont Generator is a tool developed by Creative Fabrica to make it easier for you to convert your fonts into webfonts. It is completely free to use and you’ll have a complete webfont package read to be implemented on your website.
The first step is to download the font that you would like to implement on your website. Read how you can download and unpack a font file here.
The Webfont Generator can convert any font that is in OTF or TTF format. All fonts downloaded via Creative Fabrica can be converted with the Webfont Generator.
To convert you font, you first need to open the Webfont Generator and click on the box marked with an + in order to upload the OTF/TTF font file.
Locate the font file on your computer and click Open.
The font file is now uploaded to the Webfont Generator. In order to convert the font, you need to tick the box that you are allowed to convert the font and use it for web embedding. All fonts downloaded or purchased via Creative Fabrica allow this usage.
When the Webfont Generator had confirmed that your webfont is ready, you will be able to download the files.
The downloaded folder will be saved to your computer instantly as you click Download your files. You can find it in ‘Downloaded folders’ or ‘Downloads’ on your computer.
Unpack the ZIP folder in order to access your webfont package. Included in the folder are the following files:
As mentioned before, with a commercial license from Creative Fabrica, you are allowed to convert the font into a webfont. For each domain, you will need 1 license. If you are using the font in images only, you don’t need a separate license for the website.You can read our commercial license here.
